Deluxe Year End Ad Placement

The latest Outside Magazine, the "Deluxe Year-End Issue", has a letter to the editor from Rick Ridgeway, VP of Marketing and Environmental Initiatives at Patagonia. The letter is critical of the October Gabriella Reece cover, (click on above image), the El Diablo article and Patagonia's ad placement in the middle of the whole mess. You have to admit the cover's chainsaw/dildo analogy is pretty hard to miss.

So where does Outside place the December Patagonia ad? Directly across from a full beef cake shot of Laird Hamilton who just happens to be married to?......... Gabriella Reece.

Finally, the "Dispatches" segement of the same December year end issue features an interview with Tom Brokaw. Brokaw says the first thing he is going to do when he gives up the NBC anchor desk is head to Patagonia with Yvon Chouinard and Rick Ridgeway.

Rejected

I just received a rejection letter for a print subscription to SGB. Somehow I don't qualify for a free subscription but I can pay $69 annually to get it? I did get my first FREE copy of Bicycle Retailer just the other day.

Below is the trancript of my letter back to SGB, sent back in their pre-paid return envelope.

Dear SGB,

I'm sitting in the smallest room in my house with your subscription rejection letter in front of me.

Now it is behind me.
